Welcome to the Schoolhouse

We look forward to welcoming you to the Schoolhouse. Here you will find useful information about being a parent at Nightingale, from transportation to uniforms to the Parents Association. All parents and guardians are considered members of the PA, and we encourage everyone to participate in the life of the Schoolhouse.

Parents Association

Welcome to the Parents Association

Welcome to the home of the Parents Association. Every parent at Nightingale is a member of the Parents Association, and we hope that you will find ways to get involved. Below is information about the PA and our role within the Nightingale community.

Mission

The mission of The Nightingale-Bamford School Parents Association is to live our school’s values of truth, friendship, and loyalty by promoting a school community that is connected, inclusive, and engaged. Through volunteer opportunities and school-wide events, we seek to make the Nightingale experience as great for parents as it is for students.

Who We Are

The PA Leadership oversees the entire Parents Association and works with class representatives, new family engagement representatives, and event and committee chairs to carry out the PA's mission.

Class Representatives

Class representatives are dedicated to keeping the parent body connected and informed about school events and policies. They fill the critical role of liaison between their class and the Nightingale administration and serve a two-year term. The PA Leadership Team works closely with class reps to make sure announcements and important information is disseminated to parents in each class in a timely manner. Class reps should be your first stop anytime you have a question or concern, as they are familiar with school policies and procedures and can address many issues that arise. Each class has three reps, with the exception of Kindergarten, Class IX, and Class XII (which have four class reps). You should expect to hear from them fairly regularly, as they send out email reminders of upcoming events and coordinate a variety of class-wide communications.

Event & Committee Chairs

Event & Committee Chairs are responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and execution of events and committees, and collaborate with PA Leadership to organize numerous events that connect and entertain our community during the school year.

Supporting the event chairs are hundreds of parent volunteers whose talent, creativity and generosity are invaluable to every Nightingale event’s success. We encourage and welcome every parent to participate. Throughout the school year, there are numerous volunteer opportunities for parents to be involved.

To see past years’ bus routes and timing, please click here. There are also DOE buses available for students in Classes K-VI; ridership is dependent on the distance from a student’s home to Nightingale.
